How to Pick The Right Copilot Mode for Your Task
Different tasks need different thinking styles. That’s why the Copilot Mode Selector exists, so you can match the mode to the work you’re doing and get the right kind of help at the right time.
Here’s the quick guide:
-Quick Response
Best for short, routine or time‑sensitive tasks.
Perfect for summaries, quick replies, simple Q&As, or polishing copy.
-Auto Mode
Ideal when the task could go in more than one direction.
Great for early‑stage ideas, shaping notes, or work where you’re not yet sure what you need back.
-Think Deeper
Use this when the task is analytical, strategic or high‑stakes.
Perfect for planning, problem‑solving, deep research, and learning complex topics.
You’ll see the Mode Selector anywhere you use Copilot above the prompt box when you start a new chat
Pair the right mode with a clear prompt. Include your context, your audience, your format and any constraints (like tone or word count).
You’ll get better output on the first go.
