Use /remember to Make Microsoft Copilot More Personal
One of the simplest but most powerful Copilot features is also one of the least known: Memory.
If you've ever found yourself repeatedly telling Copilot who you are, what you do, or how you like information presented, there's an easier way.
Simply use the /remember command.
What is Copilot Memory?
Memory allows Copilot to remember useful details about you and your preferences, so future conversations become more personalised and relevant. Think of it as giving Copilot a little context about who you are, helping it provide better answers without you having to start from scratch every time.
For example, you might tell Copilot:
/remember I am a trainer
/remember I live in Akaroa
Once saved, Copilot can use that context when generating responses, emails, reports, and more.
Why Does This Matter?
The quality of AI responses often depends on the context it has available.
Instead of repeatedly explaining:
Your role
Your industry
Your location
Your communication style
Your preferred format
Copilot can use what it already knows about you to tailor its responses.
For business owners, it could mean recommendations that better reflect business challenges and opportunities.
Getting Started
Try adding a few details that are genuinely helpful and likely to remain true over time.
Good examples include:
Your role or profession
Your location
Areas of expertise
The more useful context Copilot has, the better it can support your day-to-day work.
Many people focus on learning new prompts, but sometimes the biggest gain comes from helping Copilot understand you.
If you haven't tried it yet, give /remember a go. It only takes a few seconds and can make every future Copilot conversation more personal, relevant, and productive.
