There is a need to transform a Copilot rollout from a simple tech deployment into a shared cultural shift. A movement builds momentum, fosters excitement, and creates a sense of ownership across teams. This makes adoption feel personal and purposeful. It encourages leaders to show authenticity and empathy and helps individuals see “what’s in it for me” (WIIFM), which is key to overcoming resistance and driving meaningful engagement. By rallying people around a vision, you create advocates who champion the change and help embed Copilot into everyday workflows.

Empower Influencers: Identify people who are passionate about Copilot. Bring these people on board early and encourage them to lead by example. Their encouragement and support for new ways of working can often reach where top leadership can’t. 

Leaders Need to Role Model the Change: People look to leaders and will do as leaders do. It’s important that leaders demonstrate the new behaviours and practice using tools like Copilot themselves. Leaders set the tone, their actions either reinforce the change or undermine it. 

Align Words and Actions: Consistency is key. Make sure what you say about the change matches what you do. 

Show Authenticity and Empathy: Share your own learning journey, humanise the experience. Also lean into the fact tools like Copilot are improving every day. 

Tip: “Walk your talk” at every opportunity. When leaders and influencers live the change visibly and consistently, it inspires trust and signals to everyone: this is not just talk, we’re for real!
