Have you looked at the chat settings in the Copilot mobile app lately?
When background conversations are turned on, Copilot can:
-Keep listening while you switch to other apps
-Continue the conversation even when your screen is off
-Stay “present” beyond the moment you actively asked a question
This can be useful if you want it, but if you don’t, it’s worth turning off.
Why this matters?
-Not every chat needs to follow you around your phone
-You stay in control of when Copilot engages
-It helps avoid accidental prompts or background noise shaping your results
-AI works best when it’s intentional, not automatic.
If I’m not actively talking to Copilot, I don’t want it listening. If you’re using Copilot on your phone, take 20 seconds to check your chat and voice settings.
You can do this by:
-Go to Copilot on your phone and open a New Chat
-Select Chat settings; top right-hand corner
-Under voice settings you can toggle 'Background conversations' on or off
